From the mysterious disappearance of Roanoke settlers to the Wright brothers' first flight, the Outer Banks are historically important yes, but they are also postcard pretty with enough beach to share between summer visitors.
Along this trail, hikers can enjoy panoramic views and maybe catch a glimpse of wildlife. This trail is part of the Big Frog Wilderness. Groups in this area are restricted to a maximum of 12 people.
Steepness: Much of the grail has grades of 20% or steeper. Length: Trails are usually more than 8 miles, but short, steep trails may be included. Surface: Trail is most likely rocky, with uneven footing. May include many stream crossings.

Camping is available at Thunder Rock Campground. Visit the Ocoee Whitewater Center, site of the 1996 Olympic Canoe/Kayak competition. It is located on Highway 64, 6 miles west of Ducktown.
