Description
Football Road is an auto road, but more interestingly, it is also a designated bike path. It offers a scenic, 37-mile ride through pastoral farmlands with ponds and babbling brooks. It also presents several historic sites dating back to the Revolutionary era.
This road starts out in Carrboro and follows Route 1005, which changes to Greensboro/Chapel Hill Road. It runs for eight miles to Snow Camp and veers left onto Route 1004. It then takes Routes 2360, 2407, and 2369, and goes back onto Route 1005. After about 7 miles, Route 1005 becomes Alamance Church Road and ends at the crossroads of Routes 1005 and 3334.

Alamance Battleground (NC)
Before the Revolutionary War, there were several factions of the local populace that grew discontent with the government that dealt with the colonies' affairs. The Regulators were formed to try and deal with the problems, but without a decisive leader, they were considered more of a mob. They caused several problems and in 1771, William Tryon was ordered to take care of them. The Battle of Alamance ended badly for the Regulators, as the losses were great and the Regulators rebellion crushed.
