From the mysterious disappearance of Roanoke settlers to the Wright brothers' first flight, the Outer Banks are historically important yes, but they are also postcard pretty with enough beach to share between summer visitors.
From North - I-85 south to Durham, US 70 east to Raleigh. Motel
on right hand
side just past Walmart Plaza.
US 1 south to I-440 north,Glenwood Ave (US 70 west) exit 7B,
go
west 1.5 miles. Hotel is on left side. You must make U-turn at
light past hotel and come back east.
From South - I-85 north to I-40 east, Miami Blvd. exit, left at
light,
follow to US 70, right at light, US 70 to Raleigh. Motel on
right 1 block past Wal-Mart on left.
US 1 north to I-440 north, Glenwood Ave (US 70 west) exit, g
2 miles, motel on left 1 block past Phar-Mor on right. (Make
U-turn at next light.)
From East - I-40 west or US 70 West to I-440 north(outer belt)
to Glenwood Ave
exit (US 70 West) head west on Glenwood (70), approx 1.5 miles
on the left side. Must make U-turn at next light and come back
east.
From West - US 70 East from Durham, to Raleigh. Continue East
on 70 (Glenwood)
hotel on the right side, just past Walmart Plaza.
I-40 East to Raleigh to I-540 to 70 East, 4.5 miles to hotel
which
is on the right hand side, just past the Walmart Plaza.
